My story involves two little people named Ellie and Luke, they have been camping since they were months old. While most of the time spent outdoors is them playing and exploring the rest of the time is spent learning the ropes of camping. They spend endless time following their Dad and I around asking questions and wanting to help. Last summer we spent four days Continue reading

I have a post relating our wonderful weekend spent at San Onofre with my girlfriends, but I failed to talk about the actual campsite. San Onofre State Beach is located in San Clemente in sunny Southern California north of San Diego. While the trip was fun, I am hesitant to go back for a few reasons. You MUST book reservations way a head of time (like months in advance) because it fills up quick. Now, this campground is located a hop, skip, and jump away from the beach so that explains why it books up fast but again, let me tell you why I wasn’t too much of a fan. Continue reading

When I first started camping, it was pretty costly. We had to buy the tent, sleeping bag, stove, backpack, and the list goes on and on. Its safe to say we wanted to get products at a cheap price. We needed a sleeping pad and the cheapest one we found was a Coleman sleeping pad for $30 at Walmart. They claim its self-inflating and holds up al night but you have to blow it up yourself multiple times during the night. You don’t get a good night sleep while using this pad- and a good night’s sleep is super important to me! Continue reading

Heaton Flats was the campsite that turned me into the camper I am. I went in November 2011. The weather was freezing! I knew nothing about camping! But I fell in love with the tall trees, the stream filled with gold prospectors, and the hike to get to the spot. Continue reading
