what's in my pack

We are heading up tonight to the mountains and I had to pick up a few things. What are they you ask?
– Apples: Great for hiking! Replenishes your thirst and hunger.
– Salt & Pepper: With all the dehydrated meals we get, we need to spice ’em up some way!
– Rice: Instant rice doesn’t use up too much fuel for the stove and an easy meal!
– Mio Energy: Water is great but to mix things up, try using powders or juice!
– Pancakes: All you do is add water… amazing and delicious!
– Jack Daniels: Why not?
– Girly Camping hat: Why not?

I’ll let you know how the trip turns out!

Happy Camping 🙂

Pancakes in the mountains

We eat a lot of dehydrated food while camping- especially when we hike in all our gear! Yes, it would be nice to have burgers and hotdogs but that would require towing a huge cooler about 5 miles. I wanted to make a real breakfast so I bought Bisquick pancake batter that required only water. I cooked it in a sauce pan which was a little difficult at first Continue reading →

This camping trip was a graduation gift for our oldest son, Devin, who just joined the US Navy. He chose the trip to a beautiful area called Modoc on Lake Thurmond in South Carolina.   Devin is just like his father and loves nothing more than to be outdoors. I can’t argue with them and prefer it myself! Most of our meals are served on the deck, or on the patio, and we love grilling and picnics! Continue reading →

Camp Chef Propane Camp Oven and Stove

I, personally, don’t mind cooking hot dogs on a stick over the camp fire but for those of you who want a 5 course meal or prefer to be spoiled (or just love cooking) THIS is for you! From $200-$300, you can buy the Camp Chef Propan Camp Oven and Stove! From certain reviews, this puppy can cook an entire turkey! With using just one 1 lbs propane bottle, it can run on 7 hours for 350 degress. With all this food Continue reading →
