Gregory Saga 55

Here is the Gregory Saga 55 backpack. I love this backpack because of the large pockets, limited zippers for restricted space, and the adjustable straps to make this a custom-fit backpack!

Does anyone have a great backpack they love?!

backpacking campingI’ve needed a new backpack for a while but there is one thing that keeps me holding on to my bright, orange, functional yet non-functional, over-sized backpack- It was my dad’s! He got it when he was 20 years old (I will not mention his age but let’s just say he resembles Steve Martin). I’m not sure where he got it but I know he used it well- none of the zippers are functioning and the bottom gives out. The only thing that does work is the flap where it ties down and the frame. I’ve spent many trips Continue reading →

Heaton Flats

My boyfriend and I just got back from a one-nighter at Heaton Flats in the San Gabriel mountains. We got up there around 10:30 PM and hiked in about 1/2 a mile to Heaton Flats, set up our camp site, and got our drinking on (wine and tall cans of beer 🙂 ). The next day we panned for gold, took some pictures, and headed back home. It was the perfect little trip to escape for one day 🙂 Continue reading →

Camping E Card

My Essentials

Today we decided to go camping this weekend- yay! The bad thing? We decided this morning and I still have to work today, get off at 5:00, drive 30 minutes, pack quickly, and leave by a reasonable time to avoid traffic but still drive 2 1/2 hours. So, the one thing going for me is my packing is almost done- and I haven’t even started! Here are 6 items I never take out to make my packing easier! Continue reading →

3 out of 4 of my reblogging! Happy camping!

Girly Camping®

Ok, now that we’ve covered the big stuff in “Packing Part One…” we can move on to the fun part: clothing, accessories, toiletries, and other stuff! Clothing is mainly divided into two categories: warm weather and cold weather. Now remember- I live in Southern California! I am not experienced with extreme cold weather and I will be the first to admit it BUT I am a wimp and I have been FREEZING on camping trips so let me tell you how I avoid it. Always check the weather on where you’re going ahead of time. Being prepared is the number one thing you can do! I ALWAYS bring a big chunky scarf in my pack no matter what. If you are going into super cold climate invest in a down jacket- they are pricey but totally worth it! Look into Patagonia for a down jacket. They roll up into a…

Another old post with some good tips 🙂

Girly Camping®

Once you figure out where going you have to determine what to bring. I’m breaking this down in two parts: 1.) the BIG stuff 2.) clothing, accessories, and toiletries. Ok, let’s talk about the big stuff! If you are backpacking in the woods then you pretty much need everything! Let’s start with a tent. If its just you and no one else sleeping in your tent bring a one-man tent. Its small and easy to set up. If you like a little of wiggle room bring a two-person tent. Bringing the whole family? Get a family size tent or 2 two-person tents. Think about your gear- do you want it outside under the rain-fly (rain-flys goes over the tent and come out a foot or so to protect you from rain) or are you bringing your gear inside? Before you leave on your trip, set up your tent with sleeping bag and and situate your…

Hopefully I Never Have to Use These

Picture this: You are out on a beautiful Saturday morning, hiking through the mountains with not a care in a world. All you take along with you is a water bottle and a Cliff bar. The terrain is getting treturous and all of a sudden you slip and fall. You can’t put weight on your leg and there is a deep gash in your calf. What can you do with no leg support and blood loss? Continue reading →
