Today we decided to go camping this weekend- yay! The bad thing? We decided this morning and I still have to work today, get off at 5:00, drive 30 minutes, pack quickly, and leave by a reasonable time to avoid traffic but still drive 2 1/2 hours. So, the one thing going for me is my packing is almost done- and I haven’t even started! Here are 6 items I never take out to make my packing easier! Continue reading

I feel the need to redeem myself after my reblogging of Packing Part Two full of scarves, leggings, and lipgloss! Just because I want to look pretty while camping doesn’t mean I can’t handle it! I am by far not the gnarly, baddest camper ever- I just like to have fun and take pics! But people like to tell me how much of a wuss I am and that this is too girly so to redeem my girly camping ways, I compiled a small list of things I feel make me badass from over the last 9 months of camping, hiking, and other excursions. Good comments or bad, I welcome them all! So… here are a few things that justify my “girly” camping: Continue reading

If you asked me what I thought about “glamping” yesterday I would have told you its for stuck-up, rich people who can’t handle being without their materialistic possessions for even a day. Harsh- I know! Until this morning (for real) I looked at my comments on my To Glamp or Not To Glamp poll and saw my Australian follower James’ comment:
“Any type of camping is camping. Whatever you enjoy…. go with it, as long as your out there… just do it !!!”
I thought, “You know what?! He is right! ANY camping is camping and that’s great if you are outdoors and enjoying nature!” So thank you James for enlightening me! So let me continue on to this glamping post… Continue reading

camping, camping trips, entertainment, girly, girly camping, outdoors, so like what do you do, tips
So now you have conquered getting the idea in your head that you’re going camping but when you actually get there, set up your tent, take a quick walk around the campsite, and have a drink or two say to yourself, “Is this it??!!” Well here are some helpful little tips on what to do while camping (there are SOOO many things to do but here are my favorites):
1.) First and foremost, who you go with matters! If you are with your family and you don’t get along with them or “relate” to them, make sure you grab a good book and Sudoku while packing! If you are with your best freinds then you don’t need any entertainment! You know they are your best friends for a reason and you can have fun no matter where you go! If you are going with a group of friends Continue reading

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I decided to be very adventurous and hike at night! We were very skeptical and the idea of it was a little crazy but we frequented this area many times and thought to live a little! We arrived in the Angeles National Forrest (we LOVE camping here) at 8:30 PM- just when the sun was setting. After piling on our 40 pound packs, we stated walking along the trail we walked down many times. We passed our usual spot about half a mile down and everything after that was new to us! Continue reading

Ok, now that we’ve covered the big stuff in “Packing Part One…” we can move on to the fun part: clothing, accessories, toiletries, and other stuff! Clothing is mainly divided into two categories: warm weather and cold weather. Now remember- I live in Southern California! I am not experienced with extreme cold weather and I will be the first to admit it BUT I am a wimp and I have been FREEZING on camping trips so let me tell you how I avoid it. Always check the weather on where you’re going ahead of time. Being prepared is the number one thing you can do! I ALWAYS bring a big chunky scarf in my pack no matter what. If you are going into super cold climate invest in a down jacket- they are pricey but totally worth it! Look into Patagonia for a down jacket. They roll up into a pouch and zip up for easy packing. You Continue reading
