I was watching The Ellen Show today and saw this story featured. I couldn’t resist to share!
On August 11, 2012, hikers Scott and Amanda Washburn discovered an injured and abandoned dog on the steep 14,000 foot Mount Beirstadt in Colorado’s Rockies. The german shepard they named Lucky had bloody paws, was dehydrated, and unable to walk. The two couldn’t carry 112 lbs Lucky down the mountain so they wrapped up her paws to help her walk but she couldn’t. Determined to save Lucky, the Washburns went on a local hiker’s social media website 14ers.com and posted the dog’s picture along with a map to where she was found. Within a day, a group of 8 hikers lined up to help save this dog. They trecked Continue reading

This weekend was an exciting weekend for me and Girly Camping! I took on the task of spending the night in Mother Nature with my novice-camping girl friends. I had no idea how they would do, if they would complain, get bored, or just leave! I wasn’t sure if I would be a good camping guide and continue my quest for handing out girly camping knowledge or dig a grave and say goodbye to my unfaithful blog. Who deserves to have a blog that can’t even handle three girls going camping over night?? Well, let me re-cap and you can be the judge to Girly Camping’s destiny. Continue reading

While browsing around this weekend at Bass Pro Shops, I came across this little gem- Go Girl! Go Girl is a FUD, female urination device, which allows ladies to pee standing up! No more crotching down or hovering over the gross public toilet seat. Just cover yourself with this and there you go! I was a little in shock when I saw this! Ever since the beginning of time, guys had this one advantage over girls but now times are changing!! I probably won’t be using this but hey, if this is the kind of device you need to feel comfortable to pee outdoors then more power to you! You Go Girl!!

The Williams fire that broke out Sunday in the San Gabriel Canyon is said to be 70 percent contained and residents are heading back to their homes. The Williams fire has burned nearly 4200 acres. Full containment is said to happen by next Thursday. Its reported that there are no harmful injuries and no structures have been lost. Unfortunately, I am eager to return to our favorite camping spot to see what damage has been done- this breaks my heart!

Are you looking for a light book on girly camping? Let’s Get Primative is a good read for girly girls from the city. The author understands what it is for girls to go into the wild. Heather Menicucci talks about the basic camping techniques as well as recipes, how-to glam, and crafty projects. She has a humerous take on camping and I enjoyed it thoroughly!
