Last weekend, we hiked out about 5 1/2 miles in the Angeles National Forest along the East Fork river to what is called “The Narrows”. This spot is absolutely serene! The first time I went night hiking I’ll be honest with you- I was scared! I didn’t want bugs to get me, a bear to see me as a meal, or encounter a crazy woodsman! I was really nervous and didn’t know what to expect! But, like everything else I do, I feel in love and now, a third of when we hike is at night! With all the gear we take outdoors, there are a few items we could afford to lose. Here are 5 items I ditched and why I moved on…
Lantern– I love my lantern! I’ve played hundreds of card games under it and carried it with me for miles on night hikes BUT I discovered something- the head lamp! I know, right?! It took that long for me to cave in but I love my head lamp! It is light weight and small, fitting perfectly into my front pocket of my backpack for easy, quick access. Continue reading
