A new fire is underway in San Diego County- the Shockey fire. Yesterday around 12:15 PM, Shockey fire broke out on the Shockey Truck Trail and Highway 94 on the Campo Indian Reservation. 30 structures- mostly homes- have been destroyed and many others are threatened. 2,000 acres have been lost and the fire is 10% contained. The fire in the Angles National Forest is still blazing. 15% is said to be contained and 4,000 acres have been burned. No structures are threatened or harmed. No one has been seriously injured. Almost 800 Firefighters and 6 helicopters have been working on this fire. One report said it can take up September 13 to contained the fire entirely. Most of the brush in this area is dense and it has not burned for 15 years.
