My boyfriend and I just got back from a one-nighter at Heaton Flats in the San Gabriel mountains. We got up there around 10:30 PM and hiked in about 1/2 a mile to Heaton Flats, set up our camp site, and got our drinking on (wine and tall cans of beer 🙂 ). The next day we panned for gold, took some pictures, and headed back home. It was the perfect little trip to escape for one day 🙂 Continue reading

The Williams fire, which broke out September 2, was reported fully contained Wednesday morning according to Angeles National Forest officials. The fire scorched about 4,200 acres and forced 12,000 visitors to evacuate Labor Day weekend. San Gabriel Canyon remains closed to public but open to residents. Investigation to why the fire broke out remains open.
