Happy Camping!
Great video. Well done. One thing I noticed that you did, but didn’t explain. You rolled from the closed end to the open or door end. That way all the air squeezes out. Very important for any novices to know.
Excellent video!

Thank you for pointing that out! It is VERY important for a novice camper!

Liked you video, but I found myself paying more attention to the large rocks off to the side. As I said in my post, “Tent Camping: What The Hell Was I Thinking,” while attempting to sleep, those same sized rocks supernaturally moved on their own to locations under both mine and my wife’s sleeping bags.

Isn’t it amazing that rocks do that?!

The only thing that I can add is that I have a small whisk broom for camping that I use as I fold my tent up, my hands stay cleaner that way if there’s not access to water. The broom fits into the case for the tent, so it’s always there.

Age, and having camped for 50 years does have its advantages, you do learn things after a while.

I’m very glad how simple you showed packing a tent can be in this video. All too often, I find that beginners shy away from camping because they are overwhelmed by the idea of managing and taking care of their gear. They make things way more complicated than they have to be, and it sadly can ruin the experience.
Camping is way easier than people think! Thank you for sharing! =)

We shake our tents out, then stuff them. I used to roll, but was told that stuffing is better, as it doesn’t leave the same deep creases. I dunno – haven’t had any issues either way. Just make sure the zippers are all open!

You pack yours exactly the same way I do! The only difference is that my inner is left connected to the outer so that I can pitch in the pouring rain without getting the inner wet – though I suspect that is a characteristic of my tent’s design!

Nice video. If you’re cramped for space in your pack, you can always stuff your tent into the bottom minus the poles. You can then slide your poles into the water bottle pouches on the outside of your bag and cinch down your compression straps over them to hold them in place. works like a charm and saves you a liter or two of space.

I am so jealous! You didn’t have to pack the tent in the rain. 🙂
