This is so true! I remember my grandparents talking about living in the wild in Quebec and there were so few boards for the house that the snow would come in through the space in between the boards. That’s almost camping rough!
I agree with that; camping is in everyone’s DNA, and it can be pretty nice to connect with the past (as well as nature). Another thing all people used to do was sit around the camp gazing up at the stars, but then we invented houses with roofs that separate us from the night sky, and we invented electric lights, so cheap and powerful that they light up the air and city dwellers don’t get to see many stars. Camping in a beautiful place makes for wonderful stargazing, and this is another way to connect with our past. (For the boys out there, it’s also a great way to rekindle your boyhood sense of wonder.)
That was exactly why I wrote the post: “Tent Camping-What The Hell Was I Thinking”. There is only one thing that frustrates me more, and that’s not thinking of that comedian’s line before he did.
HAHA! Love this! I love camping but so many people react like this when I tell them about a trip we are taking!

People swear camping is nothing but misery, blood sweat and tears. Opposite, folks! Well, a little sweat…

That is very funny. I never quite thought of camping like that but now I will never think of it any other way.
