A Little Something About Me

Stonewall Peak

Well hello there! My name is Mandie! Nice to meet you! Let’s see…. I grew up in Southern California and have lived here ever since! I was never a camper until July 2011 when my boyfriend and brother found this fascination with finding gold in the mountains. I started this website because I found it very difficult to get good, consistant information on camping for the ladies! My hopes are to inspire you to camp, hike, backpack, or do whatever you want to do outdoors because life is short and if you spend it inside, you will die! Just kidding! But everyone should really go outside more!

I am an avid camper, hiker, backpacker, and I love to write! I am a contributor for www.Active.com and www.ReserveAmerica.com. Please check out Google +, Facebook, Twitter– @girlycamping, Instagram– @girlycamping, Pinterest if you’re into that! Email me at girlycamping@hotmail.com for any questions!

  3. Thanks for your visit to my blog today.
I hope you are finding the outdoor experiences rewarding. My niece and her husband just relocated to San Diego last week. He is with a company called Localeikki. They have an app that helps locate good places to go for recreation. You might want to check it out. http://www.localeikki.com/

Thanks for liking my post about camping on the island. Your blog looks great and I love your partners crazy beard. long live facial hair (in men anyway!)

  5. I am enjoying your blog! I’m glad I found my way here. I camped more than a little as a kid, with my Dad. Then there was the Army… But for decades my weight, fitness, or circumstances stopped me from even considering camping, or hiking… although I walked a lot. This year one of my partners suggested a hike, after having a great experience out with his brother and some dudes, I said ‘sure’ – and I’m hooked. I’ve been solo hiking most weekends since then, and this past weekend was my first solo camping in a long long time (L.L. Stub Stewart State Park – and it was lovely). You’re right, the resources specific to women hiking and camping are pretty slim. Thanks for blogging your experience. 🙂

  7. Thank you for taking the time to swing by my blog Mandie. Lived in California for 9 years. Loved camping in Yosemite and Sequoia. Pine cones the size of your head and bear stand out. One broke out the windows of my car and ripped out my back seat for a candy bar. It was a long drive home after that trip. I have a lot of good memories of camping, and I ain’t done yet. From one Happy Camper to another. Go with the flow 🙂
