Experience the Splendors of Northern Utah

Utah is known for its natural beauty and wealth of available camping experiences. More often than not, people think of Southern Utah as being the ultimate place to camp, with all of its red rock splendor; however, there are many pristine and gorgeous areas in Northern Utah that are amazingly beautiful and most are easily accessible. So, if you are looking for a new and wonderful place to camp and explore, check out these three Northern Utah camping destinations.

Explore the Vast Uinta Mountains

The Uinta Mountains, located in northeastern Utah, is a high mountain area popular for its fishing, hiking, horse packing and more. When you go camping in the high Uintas, you’ll be surrounded by towering pine trees and scenic meadow basins. There are also more than 1,000 natural lakes found in the Uintas, with more than half of those

containing large populations of sport fish. In addition, there are more than 400 miles of streams in this pristine wilderness area.

You can find developed campgrounds in many places. You can also camp in undeveloped areas for the ultimate Uintas experience.

The Pristine Cache Valley and Bear Lake Areas

The Cache Valley and Bear Lake areas of Northern Utah are picturesque and are a stark contrast to the red rocks of Southern Utah. You’ll experience lush groves of trees and large bodies of water, as well as many pristine streams and tributaries.

One popular area — Bear Lake — is actually known as the “Caribbean of the Rockies” due to its deep blue color. It is a deep lake that boasts cutthroat, lake trout and many other sport fish species.

There are many camping opportunities in the Bear Lake area including RV and cabin rentals.

Flaming Gorge Reservoir is a True Gem

The Flaming Gorge Reservoir is often overlooked as a camping destination. However, this area offers outstanding boating, fishing, skiing, jet skiing, and houseboat opportunities. It is also well known for its trophy lake trout, as well as rainbows, kokanee, and small mouth bass.

This beautiful area is located within the Ashley National Forest, and is thick with evergreen trees, junipers and pinion pines that extend to the reservoir shores, for a truly pristine experience.
There are many camping opportunities in the 43 campgrounds in the area. You can even find primitive campsites for those that want to experience the seclusion and privacy extend by this beautiful Northern Utah reservoir.
